Glasgow City continues its commitment to Special Olympics

The Glasgow City Basketball have supported the Special Olympics Scotland West Basketball team since 2004 by providing coaches referees and volunteers, former members Steven Turner and Brendan Pettit coached successful teams in the Summer Games and both where coaches for the GB squads in both China and Greece.
Willie Cameron (club president) and Alisdair Cameron (long time member) successfully coached the Scotland West team at the recent GB Special Olympics National Championships in Manchester.
Scotland West with a mixed Team of 7 males and 3 females went through the tournament undefeated against 13 other regions from throughout Britain to become GB champions proving they are the best Special Olympics team in Great Britain.
Due to the success of the games Scotland West will be sending 2 teams to the Summer games in Sheffield on August 2017. Willie and Alasdair will be the coaches and will be preparing the team for the games.
