Both our u16 men and women as well as our u18 men's squad saw action this weekend in their respective national league campaigns across the country. Our u16 and u18 men made the trip through to the crags in Edinburgh for a match up against Boroughmuir Blaze and our 16 women traveled north to Dunfermline to take on Boroughmuir Blaze and West Lothian wolves. Our u18 men also saw SLBA action this week against Glasgow Storm as did our u16 women and Senior men's squads who took on South Lanarkshire Colliers and Glasgow Devils respectively.

Having lost out first time around, the boys were most certainly out to give a better show of themselves as they stepped out onto the court on Saturday morning. A quick start saw the boys race out to a very quick first quarter lead and extended this lead to twenty by half time through strong on ball pressure, crisp and smart passes in transition and within the half court as well as a solid awareness of what players needed the ball in their hands and when. The comfortable lead afforded the opportunity for our younger players to step up and get the chance to prove themselves at the older age group which they did fantastically. The boys eventually ran out 97-60 winners. Top scorer once more for the cadets with 34 points was Maciej Niziolek with Roy Attah contributing an impressive 25 points and Terry Enehizena Ebose chipping in with 17. 21 bench points, the most of the season so far also showed just how far the boys have moved in the right direction as a team!

Next up were our Junior men who took on Blaze having lost out considerably at home at the start of the season. A poor start which would come back to bite the boys when the dust had settled pilled the pressure on and they went into the half time break trailing by 20. Despite this the boys showed massive character and pride in fighting back and cutting the lead to as little as two points at one point in the third. Strong on ball defense and a committal to the task at hand put the boys in a position to take the game however missed layups and free throws combined with a poor start eventually was our undoing as Blaze took the win, 70-58. The boys should be hugely proud of this result as they showed just how far they have came as a team and individuals since the start of the season and also showed huge character in their fight to get back into the game. Keep in mind that the most important goals cannot be measured with a scoreboard, keep working hard and committing to training boys and you will continue to make the vast improvements in your game that you have saw so far. Ben Polley top scored on 19 points and Sean McCulloch chipped in with 16 points with the boys both making big plays down the stretch. On top of all this it really was an extremely rounded performance with every player on the team making an offensive impact and making it onto the score sheet.

Our u16 girls also took to the floor against Boroughmuir Blaze and West Lothian Wolves taking home two comfortable wins. At the time of writing the only score available was the game against Blaze which the girls took 74-26 however we have been reliably informed that the girls also took home the win against Wolves. The girls now sit undefeated at the top of their division with 5 wins and 0 losses.

Throughout the week our u18 men picked up a win against Glasgow Storm after recovering from an extremely slow start with an absolute peach of a third quarter. Our u16 women also picked up the victory in overtime against the South Lanarkshire Colliers and our Senior men stole a victory from Glasgow Devils.
